eFoil Rental

Lesson, supervised session or a board of your own for the day

Last updated:

Three things sold under one word

Most of what turns up under eFoil rental, eFoil hire or e-foil rental is a lesson, not a board passed across a counter. Three products hide behind the word. The guided lesson keeps an instructor with you, and it is how almost every first-timer starts. The supervised session sells ride time to people who can already fly. Take-away rental sends you off with board, battery and a deposit slip. It is the rarest of the three. Before you set one price against another, find out which of them the booking page is selling.

A guided lesson, start to finish

A first booking nearly everywhere looks like the one Electric Surf Co sells in Austin. Its Fliteboard eFoil Experience starts at $299 and follows a set order: vest and helmet fitting, a briefing on the dock, then a full 60 minutes of riding.

Prices and lengths vary by school. The shape holds. E-FoilUSA at the US Sailing Center in Coconut Grove sells a private lesson of 120 minutes, one rider on one board, for $385. Urban Surf in Seattle lists its eFoil Training Lesson on the Lift eFoil at $350.

The briefing is part of what you pay for. CHI eFoil in Chicago makes a 20 to 30 minute safety briefing mandatory on every lesson and hands each rider a USCG approved life jacket and a helmet with a hands-free intercom. WakeUp Docklands in London starts on dry land before the one-to-one tuition on the water.

Ride time once you can fly

Hawaii eFoil Experience on Oahu shows the step from lesson to plain ride time on a single page. Its private 90 minute lesson starts at $289 for riders aged 16 and up, while the private 60 minute session on a Lift eFoil, “intended for those with prior experience on an eFoil”, starts at $229.

Seven Palms in Marbella calls its version eFoil Hours: independent ride time without an instructor, for proficient riders, at €175 for one hour. Nissa Foil Club in Nice sells a one hour session for €190 per person. On Lake Como, Water Experience Center charges €160 for an hour of eFOIL ONLY and €260 with a lesson.

Lake Garda has eight hourly prices to compare. Read on 28 September 2026, an hour of rental cost €95 at Beekite (plus a one-off €10 introduction), €100 at four schools, from €109.99 at Planet Allsports once you have done its own course, and €120 at eWave, or €140 with safety equipment. LakeRiders asks €169 on a LIFT5 and €249 on an Audi e-tron Foil, plus a one-off €99 briefing if you have not taken a LakeRiders lesson.

Taking a board away for the day

Here the board leaves with you, and a deposit stays behind until it comes back. Water Toys Team in Barcelona rents Fliteboards by the day at €450, €500 or €600 depending on the board, plus a €1,500 deposit. Its Ibiza base charges the same and says no previous experience is needed to rent, a line we did not find on many other pages. MAKA eFoil in Sorrento rents from €750 per day, no instructor required, against a €1,500 deposit.

Croatia has a small cluster. EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA, based in Zadar, rents a board for a day from €225 and holds a refundable €1,000 deposit. Lull eFoil near Pula charges €350 a day or €2,250 a week, to riders trained by Lull, by another school, or self-taught to an advanced level. Blue Mind Marine rents across the country and will deliver to your boat or villa.

Some take-away rentals come with a boat attached. alquilarunbarcoenibiza adds an eFoil to a full day boat rental for €300 plus VAT with one battery (about 1.5 hours), basic instructions and a safety kit, or €400 plus VAT with two batteries. In Greece, E-VASS lists day hire at €300 per board and week hire for yachts at €1,500.

Peak Adventure Rentals in Utah works from a shop. You collect the board there, take the 15 minutes of off-water training that come with it, and may ride on any lake in the state.

Why so few operators hand the board over

Most schools that rent boards at all want to see you ride first. Duotone Pro Center Tenerife in El Médano rents Lift eFoils, and its page says “For the first time renting with us, one session with the instructor for supervision is obligatory.” Porto Cervo Luxury Sport in Sardinia is blunter. “First lesson is required to prove that you can use it alone.”

Flying Fish in the Netherlands turns the gate into a certificate of three 40 minute lessons, then rents from €60 an hour. Infinity Sport in Kent asks for at least four hours of proven experience. Grassy Flats Resort in the Florida Keys says “Rentals are for riders who have foiled before.”

The Canary Islands turned up no operator that publishes eFoil rental to beginners without instruction.

Behind the caution, most likely, is risk that sits with the operator. Under the UK rules set out below, an owner who hands over a craft without an adequate briefing may be criminally liable. So boards go out after supervision and against a deposit, and several take-away offers come tied to a boat, a yacht or a villa, from alquilarunbarcoenibiza and E-VASS to Blue Mind Marine.

Hire rules in Britain and Florida

Britain and Florida publish hire rules plain enough to quote paragraph by paragraph. Where a conclusion is ours, we say so. The rules for riding your own board, country by country, are on our eFoil rules page.

United Kingdom

  • MGN 684, paragraph 1.4, treats electrically powered vessels of any size, eFoils included, as “watercraft” under the Merchant Shipping (Watercraft) Order 2023 (S.I. 2023/35, in force 31 March 2023).
  • Paragraph 2.4 says an “operator” can include a hire company that hires a powered watercraft out. Under paragraph 2.5 an owner who takes no reasonable steps for safe use may be criminally liable, and one example given is “failing to provide an adequate safety briefing or training for a user.” In plain terms, a UK hire company has a duty to brief and train you before you go out.
  • MGN 599, paragraph 9.1, says the STCW Regulations 2022 do not apply on a pleasure vessel under 80 GT or under 24 m. The conclusion, one the RYA shares, is that no national license exists for riding a private eFoil.
  • None of S.I. 2023/35, MGN 684 or MGN 599 sets an insurance duty for a private craft of eFoil size, at least not one we could point to. Cover comes from local permits, navigation licenses and the operators.

Florida

  • Section 327.02 defines a motorboat as “a vessel equipped with machinery for propulsion,” a wording wide enough to take in an eFoil.
  • Section 327.54(1)(c), 2026 edition, calls a business a “livery” when it offers a vessel for use by another, for any consideration, without providing a USCG licensed master. The same paragraph adds that “A public or private school or postsecondary institution located within this state is not a livery.”
  • Under 327.54(2) a livery needs a free permit from the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, renewed every year, must list its rental vessels and must keep enough USCG approved life jackets. Under (3)(e) nothing may be rented before instruction on handling, right of way, local waters and emergencies, and the renter signs for each part.
  • Subsection (6) reads “A livery may not knowingly lease or rent a livery vessel, other than a human-powered vessel, to any person who is under 18 years of age.” Subsection (7) asks for insurance from a Florida licensed carrier of at least $500,000 per person and $1 million per event, and the renter must be insured or offered that cover. Take-away eFoil rental in Florida is therefore, if the livery statute reaches eFoils as its wording suggests, for adults only.

Treat the bullets above as a rider's summary rather than legal advice. Rules change and local bylaws add to them; the operator and the harbor authority have the last word.

Age and weight limits, swimming and deposits

Every booking page sets its own limits. Pure Magic in Dublin takes riders from 10, eFoil Sports Muskoka in Ontario from 12, Kauai Foil Experience from 13 (under 16 with an adult), OC Foil in California from 14 and Fliteschool Queenstown from 15. Urban Surf in Seattle says “Renters must be ages 16 or older,” and WakeUp Docklands in London teaches ages 18 to 70.

Weight limits run 100 kg at Queenstown, 110 kg at eFoil Riders CY and under 265 lbs at Muskoka (120 kg). eFoil Scotland says around 110 kg, “however, this all depends on build,” so send a message first if you are near a line.

You need to swim in Kauai, at OC Foil, with eFoil Riders CY and at Ultimate SUP NI. Follow Me Adventures on Lake Maggiore goes further and makes very good water confidence and good swimming mandatory for its €170 eFoil TRY.

Deposits and weather

Take-away deposits in this comparison run from €500 at alquilarunbarcoenibiza, booked with the boat, to €1,500 at Water Toys Team and MAKA. EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA holds €1,000 by card pre-authorization, cash or bank transfer. Peak Adventure Rentals takes $500 per board by Venmo, cash or card.

The weather keeps a veto. E-Foil Costa Rica states that “all bookings are subject to weather and water conditions.” Wing2Fly at Podersdorf on Lake Neusiedl runs its €199 eFoil experience only in light wind or calm.

Comparing offers by minutes on the water

The headline price says little until you know the minutes on the water. E-Foil Costa Rica splits 90 minutes into about 20 on the beach and an hour riding. Divide the price by the minutes you spend riding and very different offers start to line up.

  • The board. The rental fleets we found run Fliteboard (Water Toys Team, Lull), Lift (Duotone Tenerife, Cayman eFoil), SiFly (Infinity Sport) or Waydoo (CharlotteEfoil). Our pages on Flite, Lift, SiFly and Waydoo explain how they differ.
  • What is included. Nissa Foil Club in Nice puts equipment, photos and video into its €190 hour.
  • Flexible dates.E-Foil Cornwall sells a £130 one to one lesson voucher “valid for a whole year after purchase.”
  • Who comes to you.CharlotteEfoil runs lessons “across the Charlotte lakes and beyond,” and eFoil Riders CY brings boards to Paphos, Protaras and Limassol.
  • Batteries for owners. onAqua near Athens rents Flitecell Nano, Sport and Explore batteries to Fliteboard owners. Jamie Knox in Ireland rents batteries for foil assist, a different drive from an eFoil, at €60 for 30 minutes or €110 an hour.

Hourly ranges, and the question of when a board of your own makes more sense than renting, are in the rent or buy section of our eFoil price guide.

Frequently asked questions

Will anyone hand me a board with no lesson first?

Yes, at a minority of places. Seven Palms in Marbella sells eFoil Hours to proficient riders, El Niño Surf Center in Can Pastilla hires to experienced riders with no instructor, and Water Toys Team rents Fliteboards by the day in Barcelona and Ibiza. Elsewhere a supervised first session, a short course or proof of riding hours usually comes before the board is yours alone.

How much does eFoil rental cost?

Each format has its own price level. Read on operator sites on 26 October 2026: €175 for an hour of eFoil Hours at Seven Palms, and €450 to €600 a day plus a €1,500 deposit at Water Toys Team Barcelona. Guided first lessons in the US list from $299 at Electric Surf Co in Austin, and E-FoilUSA in Miami asks $385 for two private hours. Our price guide sets these against owning a board.

Where can I find eFoil hire in the UK?

Hire without a teacher is rare in Britain. Infinity Sport at Lydd on Sea in Kent hires a SiFly Rider+ for £150 per 90 minutes, but only to riders with proven experience of at least four hours. Most other UK offers in our guides are lessons or courses.

How old do you have to be to rent an eFoil?

From 10 at Pure Magic in Dublin to 18 at WakeUp Docklands in London. Florida bars a rental business (a livery) from renting a powered vessel to anyone under 18; whether that takes in eFoils is a question the statute does not answer in so many words, but the definition points that way.

Do you pay a deposit to rent an eFoil?

Yes, when the board leaves with you; no take-away offer in this comparison skips it. alquilarunbarcoenibiza asks €500 with a boat, EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA €1,000, and Water Toys Team and MAKA eFoil €1,500 each. In Utah, Peak Adventure Rentals holds $500 per board.

Is there eFoil rental near me?

If your home or holiday water is on our list, yes. The finder at the foot of this page runs from Britain and Ireland through Spain, Italy and France to the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Gulf, Asia, Mexico and the Caribbean. Each line names one operator we checked and links to the local guide.
