Who rents or teaches eFoil in Greece
Santorini, Paros, Naxos, Rhodes, Corfu, Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Chania, Halkidiki: none of them gave us an eFoil operator when we searched in October 2026. In Greece the board decides the trip, so choose the bay first and the island second.

The notes in the last column are ours. Fliteboard owners should start with onAqua, which rents batteries to riders who fly in with their own board.
Athens south coast, Porto Heli and Navarino
onAqua is a Fliteboard dealer and school in Alimos that teaches on the beaches of Vouliagmeni, Voula and Kavouri. Vouliagmeni is about 20 km from central Athens, roughly 25 minutes by road on a router estimate, so a session fits into a few days in the city.
Its booking pages listed four ways in on 24 October 2026: Try Flite, 20 minutes for €60; Learn to Flite, 40 minutes for €120; a rental with a 1-hour introductory course for €180; and a day rental from €300.
When we checked in October 2026, nobody else on the Athens Riviera offered eFoil; Glyfada, Lagonisi and Anavyssos drew a blank. onAqua also rents the battery on its own, in three sizes (Nano 806 Wh, Sport 1.6 kWh, Explore 2.1 kWh), with no price printed.
Porto Heli is about 173 km from central Athens, roughly 3 h 15 min by road. The dealer E-Surfer lists Octopus Garden at the AKS Hotel beach there with Aerofoils boards, a short first course from the dock and then about an hour per person in a sheltered part of the bay. Octopus Garden's own site did not confirm it, so write first.
Gialova, on Navarino Bay, is 279 km and about 4 h 10 min from Athens. The Costa Navarino resort offers eFoil from a meeting point at W Costa Navarino and publishes no prices.
Mykonos, Milos and the quiet Cyclades
Korfos Bay is 2.5 km from Mykonos Town and five minutes by car from the airport. It faces north, and its concave shape funnels the meltemi straight in. Sandy beach, shallow water, and an eFoil that goes out on calm days: Duotone Pro Center Mykonos says its board works best in calm water under 10 knots.
The center teaches and rents the Audi e-tron foil from Aerofoils, quoted at up to 2 hours of flying time and a top speed of 50 km/h (about 31 mph). Rental goes only to experienced foilers, or to riders who first took a lesson at the center.

| Session | Length | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Rental | 30 min | €150 |
| Rental | 1 hour | €250 |
| Beginner lesson | 1 hour | €300 |
| Beginner lesson | 2 hours | €500 |
| Beginner lesson | 2.5 hours | €625 |
No hourly rate we found in Greece was higher. One lesson hour costs five times onAqua's 20-minute try, and what the money buys is a board on Mykonos itself.
Milos Watersports, the other Cycladic option, works from Fyriplaka beach and sells eFoil lessons and rental in 30-minute units on SiFly boards. Helmet and lifejacket are provided and compulsory, and only experienced riders rent without a lesson. With no published prices, ask whether a quote is per person or per board.

Kardamena on Kos, the nearest board to Rhodes
SUP KOS keeps a shop on Kardamena harbor and offers eFoil lessons plus daily and weekly eFoil rental aimed at yacht charters. Its pages carry no prices. Ask for a quote.
Rhodes is a wing island. Its centers list wing foil only, none rented an eFoil when we looked in October 2026, and the wind there starts light and builds through the day. The nearest eFoil is on Kos. Kefalos Bay there has light morning winds and flat water, and on any meltemi island we would book the eFoil for the morning.
Vasiliki mornings on Lefkada
Vasiliki, the southernmost town on Lefkada, sits on a shallow, sandy bay. Its thermal wind, pushed along by the mountain, leaves the mornings light and the sea flat, then howls cross-shore in the afternoon. We read that as eFoil before lunch and wing after it.
The eFoil center there is E-VASS, at Four Winds, on Waydoo Flyer boards with flight pods for beginners. It goes out in the still morning bay, or on afternoons when the wind fails to arrive.

| Option | Price |
|---|---|
| Lesson, 1.5 hours, up to 3 people per board | €150 per board |
| One to one, up to 2 hours | €250 |
| Day hire | €300 |
| Week hire for yachts | €1,500 |
Lefkada has no airport. Preveza (Aktion) airport is about one hour to 1.5 hours away by transfer.

Corfu, Zakynthos and Kefalonia had no eFoil school or rental that our searches could find. The exception moves around: eFoil Riders has run guided catamaran trips through the Ionian with Fliteboard kit.
One bay on Crete, none in the north
We found one eFoil address on Crete. Sailing Crete runs sessions at Lygaria bay in Agia Pelagia, near Heraklion, from the Eurodiving center, and activity platforms sell the ride from €100 for 30 minutes. Chania, Heraklion town, Elounda and Agios Nikolaos turned up nothing in October 2026.
Wing riders should know the island splits the two sports. The wing center is at Kouremenos in the far east, a long way from Lygaria, so eFoil and wing do not fit into one day on Crete.
Up north, Halkidiki and Thessaloniki showed no eFoil operator at all when we searched.
What the 2023 eFoil decision asks of every rider
Greece wrote rules for this board. Ministerial decision ΥΑ 2133.3/53888/2023 (ΦΕΚ Β' 4816/29.07.2023) took effect on publication (art. 5) and covers rental and private use alike, together with General Port Regulation No. 20 (ΓΚΛ 20, GKL 20 below). We read both on the coast guard's e-ΔΛΑ portal in October 2026.
Article 3, par. 1 στ to η, rules out rocky coasts, anywhere outside a sheltered bay or cove, ports, marinas and fishing shelters (except to start and return under GKL 20 art. 30 a), and water under 2 m deep. Vasiliki, Korfos, Lygaria, Porto Heli and Navarino are all bays, which fits as we read the rule, though no port authority has published a check of them.
Par. 1α sets the age at 12. Riders from 12 to 17 need a parent's or guardian's consent confirming they can swim (a written form in rentals, Annex A, GKL 20 art. 37 par. 3) and an escort from the operator or an employee within 50 m, two minors per escort at most. Par. 1 β to ε bar non-swimmers, make helmet and impact vest compulsory for everyone, private riders included, require a fully charged battery and remote, and allow riding only between sunrise and sunset.
Par. 1 ια to ιγ and par. 2 set the distances: 200 m from bathers or bathing buoys and 300 m from an empty shore, with speed under 5 knots and the board off the foil until you get there. Our short version is slow and low until you are clear. Below 25 % battery you stay within 300 m of your start (par. 1θ).
Rented boards start and return through a marked channel in sight of the operator, who may cut the power by geofencing, and one approval covers at most three eFoils (par. 3 to 6). eFoils may not ride alongside jet skis (par. 6), and we read that ban as binding private riders as well.
No license and no registration are needed for an eFoil, on our reading, while jet skis need both (GKL 20 art. 9). An electric surfboard with no foil most likely falls under the 2017 approval for motorized surfboards (2133.1/35411/2017), which bars riders under 18 and anyone without a speedboat license; that too is our reading.
GKL 20 adds a wind ceiling of 5 Beaufort or 38 km/h (about 24 mph), in art. 32 par. 1α for rentals and art. 33 par. 1α for private use. In FoilFun's reading it covers eFoils. Private riders go by the national weather service bulletin; a rental post keeps an anemometer and may refuse you below the limit (art. 24), which you accept at once (art. 34). Art. 26 par. 3 keeps every motorized recreation craft, private or rented, from moving or anchoring inside a buoyed bathing area unless a local rule says otherwise.
Duties for operators, renters and owners
A renter carries little of the paperwork. Renting out craft, or advertising rentals online, needs a port authority approval (GKL 20 art. 22 par. 1) under ΚΥΑ 2131.4/64444/2021 (ΦΕΚ Β' 4174/09.09.2021), and a local committee places rental posts and channels (art. 22 par. 2, art. 35). Art. 24 par. 1 adds an orange rescue boat doing at least 12 knots, first aid gear, a briefing and a kit check, all craft ashore by sunset, no renters on alcohol or drugs, and a register of each renter's ID or passport number or address of stay.
Art. 5 of the ΚΥΑ, which we read in a law portal copy, asks operators for third party liability insurance of at least 147,000 euro for death or injury. Art. 24 par. 2, in the wording of ΦΕΚ Β' 4559/2026, says a rental operator may not run or advertise lessons, only show how the craft works. Operators face fines of €500 to €5,000 under GKL 20 art. 39 par. 4, doubled for a repeat within twelve months, and 2,000 to 30,000 euro for renting without approval (ΚΥΑ art. 10).
Art. 34 turns to the renter, who must use the kit provided, follow instructions and local notices, stay off alcohol and drugs, mention any disability or health problem, and stop at once when the operator says so. Rented craft other than speedboats stay within one nautical mile of the coast unless a specific rule says otherwise (art. 25).
With your own board, on our reading, there is no license, registration or insurance duty, but the whole eFoil decision binds you, from age and kit to bay, depth, distance, daylight, battery and wind. You launch the way GKL 20 art. 30 lets a private craft launch: from a port, marina or shelter; from a slipway with no bathers within 50 m either side, or via a marked channel 100 m out; or from a beach outside bathing facilities through a marked channel, or at up to 3 knots with no bathers within 100 m (30 m either side and 1 knot when bathers are present). A rental channel serves you only to start and return (art. 27 par. 5), and after that, still on our reading, slow and low applies until you are clear.
Local port orders can close set areas or set quiet hours (art. 24 par. 1ζ, art. 4 par. 1η), and as we read them they bind private riders. They are not online, so ask the operator or the port office. Then there is the battery: lithium packs above 160 Wh must fly as cargo under the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and every Fliteboard pack is bigger. Ship yours as cargo or rent one from onAqua; our eFoil battery guide covers the packs.
This section is FoilFun's reading of the texts named above, as of October 2026. It is not legal advice; the local port authority can tell you what applies on a given beach.
Why we book the morning slot
From June to August the meltemi gives mean winds above 8 m/s in the central and south east Aegean, against at most 4 m/s elsewhere in the Mediterranean (National Observatory of Athens, 2003 to 2006 study on meteo.gr). In September the Aegean mean eases to 7 m/s or less.
One station shows the odds. At Tinos Town Hall, July and August brought between 20 strong meltemi days (2014) and 47 (2016) over 2009 to 2025, about 17 in July and 19 in August. One station is not the whole Aegean, but it is why we would book a morning slot on a meltemi island and keep a spare day.
As we read the study, the Ionian lies outside that summer maximum. Lefkada's wind is a thermal, mainly June to September, and SURF magazine put Vasiliki afternoons at 15 to 20 knots (27.05.2023). E-VASS and the Lygaria offer on Crete both run April to October; for Mykonos, check the center's own page.
The water is kind for most of that window. Monthly model means for 2022 to 2025 (Open-Meteo marine model, rounded) put the sea at about 18.5 to 20 °C in May, 22 to 24 °C in June, 24 to 27 °C in July, 25.5 to 27.5 °C in August, 24 to 26 °C in September and 22 to 24 °C in October, with Mykonos and Kos the coolest. The Mykonos center suggests a 4/3 wetsuit in May and early October, a 3/2 in June and September, and a shorty in high summer.
Vasiliki afternoons and the meltemi islands are wing foil country.
Eight questions for the operator
We would send these in one message before paying anything:
- Is it a sheltered bay?
- Which months does your season cover?
- What is the minimum age, and is there a consent form for 12 to 17 year olds?
- Are helmet and impact vest included?
- How many minutes does the price cover, and is it per board or per person?
- Lesson first, or straight to rental?
- On a meltemi island, is there a morning slot?
- What insurance do you hold?
Bring an ID or passport number, or your address of stay, and answer the swimming and health questions honestly; a rider aged 12 to 17 needs a parent's written consent. Session prices against owning a board are on our eFoil price page.
Most Greek beaches have no lifeguard station. We take that as a reason to ride inside the operator's area and never alone off an unwatched beach. Dial 112 for any emergency, at sea included; ambulance is 166, police 100, tourist police 1571 and the fire service 199. Summer heat waves bring high fire risk, and civil protection posts regional notices at civilprotection.gov.gr.
