The Takuma brand
Takumawas a French brand with a narrow focus: eFoils and hydrofoils, nothing else. Its own website, as we read it on 25 February 2021, spoke of offices in four countries (Japan, France, Spain, and New Caledonia). No live source confirms that list today. The French register of companies gives a Paris address, and an archived catalogue from December 2023 prints only a “Takuma HQ” in Barcelona. What the brand built its reputation on is easier to pin down: serious value for the money, since Takuma eFoils sold for far less than the premium competition.
The lineup consisted of two eFoil boards: the Carver (for advanced riders) and the Cruising (for beginners and heavier riders).
The models (archive)
These two boards made up the entire Takuma range. Neither is available new anymore; we've left the original write-ups in place for anyone hunting on the used market. The figures are the maker's own, as we read them on its site on 25 February 2021. That site no longer answers, but the web archive kept the maker's 2021 product pages for both boards, and the technical figures below match them in all but one line. Our February transcription put the Cruising's front wing at 1300 cm²; the archived page gives 1600 or 1900 cm² as standard and the smaller wing as an option, and the list now follows it. A second generation, the Carver 2 and the Cruising 2, appeared on Takuma's site later in 2021 and is described at the end of this section. An archived catalogue from December 2023 lists the “eFoil Cruising 2” next to a third board, the “eFoil Vantage”, for which we hold no spec sheet, so check the model year in any used listing.
Takuma Efoil Carver
The Takuma Efoil Carver is a compact board built for hard-charging riders and intense sessions. Its tight dimensions make you faster on the water, and because both board and wing are on the small side, the Carver stays stable even at higher speeds.
The 60 cm mast keeps you flying comfortably in bigger waves and opens up tight, sporty turns. The board reacts instantly to every shift of your weight. Recommended for advanced, experienced eFoilers. Takuma's product page from June 2021, kept in the web archive, also recommends the Carver only for riders up to 85 kg, because the board is so compact.

Takuma Efoil Cruising
The bigger, more stable model, ideal for beginners and heavier riders.
Wing options: 1900 cm² (for beginners on flat water) and 1600 cm² (more playful, better in waves).

Carver 2 and Cruising 2
The web archive saved the Cruising 2 product page in September 2021 and the Carver 2 page a month later. Neither page prints a complete spec sheet like the first generation's, so where a figure is missing below, Takuma left it out.
The Carver 2 kept the length, width and 120 liters of the first Carver, on a reshaped board with a curved “Gravity Deck” and deck handles. Takuma shrank the ESC, added an external antenna to keep the Bluetooth link when the board sits underwater before take-off, and paired the board with a new waterproof remote that holds a set speed and has a turbo boost. Under it sit a reinforced 65 cm mast and a full carbon Kujira Helium wing set. The 35 Ah battery came standard, good for up to 90 minutes depending on conditions and rider level. The page gives no top speed, motor power, weight or charge time, and it no longer mentions the first Carver's rider weight limit. Instead, Takuma wrote that the Kujira Helium suits light and heavy riders alike.
The Cruising 2 kept the board size of the first Cruising and came with the large 1900 cm² wing and a 50 cm mast. Its battery dropped to 25 Ah, and Takuma put the flight time at 65 to 90 minutes, depending on rider weight and level. Charge times did not change, the motor was still rated at 3 kW, and the spec block lists 28 km/h with the big wing. New were a waterproof remote that switches off when it touches water, a smaller and lighter ESC, carry handles and inserts for a trolley handle. The page prints no total weight, and it contradicts itself on the battery (a leftover 35 Ah line) and on the construction, so we use neither line.
What happened to Takuma?
The end came in the summer of 2024. On 11 July 2024 the French company register recorded the opening of a liquidation for TAKUMA SAS, the company behind the boards. hydrofoilstore.com, a British foil shop that had stocked the brand, then published a statement that Takuma was no longer in business with effect from 16 July 2024. Since that summer Takuma has been in liquidation since July 2024. The brand's eFoils and hydrofoils are no longer sold new; the profile above stays online as an archive.
On paper the company has not vanished: when we checked the register on 12 September 2026 it still listed a director and an active status. What has stopped is production, and the official site went with it. takuma.com times out, and the web archive holds no copy of it after 5 August 2024. Do not confuse it with takuma.fr, a blog run by a third party under the same name, which is not the manufacturer.
If you own a Takuma eFoil, plan around the fact that manufacturer spare parts and warranty support are gone. One organised channel does remain: hydrofoilstore.com sells off the liquidation stock, about 60 Takuma part numbers when we read its catalogue on 12 September 2026, among them a motor set, a remote and controller cables, all sold as is, without warranty and priced in pounds. Beyond that stock, your sources are used boards stripped for parts and independent watersports workshops. Watch the condition of the battery and electronics especially closely, because those are the components hardest to replace, and the liquidation shelf will not necessarily hold the one piece that failed on your board.
