Waydoo for the price, Fliteboard for the dealers
Buy the Waydoo if the budget decides. A complete Flyer EVO costs between $4,999 and $9,899 in Waydoo's US store, and the cheapest Fliteboard with a hard board starts at $10,999. The cheaper money still buys a complete eFoil, and not a stripped one. The Pro Plus and the Master Plus come with a 2300 Wh battery. The Pro Plus and Max Plus have built-in GPS, so you can set a geofence around your riding zone. Every model except the Lite has Flight Assist, an electronic aid that steadies the lift while you learn.
Buy the Fliteboard if service, resale and choice count for more than the invoice. Fliteboard names more than 330 dealers around the world for lessons, servicing and sales. It gives two years on every product, and that warranty passes to the next owner. With the Prop it recommends the ICON, the AIR ICON and the MN86 for riders up to 120 kg. Two of its boards have no Waydoo counterpart: an inflatable you can fly with, and a dedicated handlebar board where Waydoo sells a scooter kit.
Two clauses can tip it the other way. Waydoo's warranty does not cover damage from riding in water shallower than 1.2 m (about 4 ft), nor from a load above 100 kg. If you weigh more than 100 kg, Fliteboard's cover reaches further. If your home water is a shallow lagoon, read those Waydoo terms before you order.
In Australia the question answers itself: only Fliteboard runs a local store there.
Each brand's range in more depth, accessories included, is on our Waydoo eFoil and Flite eFoil pages.
Complete sets in the makers' own stores
$4,999 buys the cheapest Waydoo in the United States. On the Fliteboard side the inflatable AIR ICON and AIR PRO open the range at $8,999, and the hard-board ICON and PRO start at $10,999.

In Europe a Max Plus and an ICON with a soft top sit about €3,800 apart. Higher up the ranges the gap narrows. In the US the Waydoo Master Plus and a Fliteboard PRO Carbon are about $2,700 apart, and the Max Plus costs about $2,400 less than the inflatable AIR ICON.
Only one brand has local prices in Australia. au.fliteboard.com lists the AIR ICON and AIR PRO from A$13,499, the ICON and PRO with a soft top or fiberglass board from A$16,499 and the Carbon versions from A$18,999. Waydoo sells no set in Australian dollars. To see where both brands sit in the wider market, go to our eFoil price page.
Flyer EVO against Series 6, model by model
Waydoo keeps one family of four. The Flyer EVO comes as the EVO Lite, Max Plus, Pro Plus and Master Plus, and Waydoo Europe sells the last one as the Flyer EVO Master. Wings, masts, propulsion units and batteries can be swapped, upgraded and mixed across the EVO models, so a Lite can grow with its owner.
Fliteboard's Series 6 spreads much wider. It runs from the ICON (the original Fliteboard under a new name) through the PRO, ULTRA L3 and RACE x Mercury Racing to the inflatable Flite AIR, the Flitescooter, Flite AIR x Axopar and Flite x Marc Newson, a one-time release of 999 configurations.

|---|---|---|
| Entry set | EVO Lite: 90 L EPP board without sensors, 4000 W | AIR ICON, rigid inflatable 5'8", or ICON Soft Top 2 |
| Big, stable learning board | Max Plus: 130 L EPP board with GPS, 6000 W | ICON: 5'8", 100 L, beginner to intermediate |
| Board to progress on | Pro Plus: 90 L EPP board with sensors and GPS, 6000 W | PRO: 5'0", 67 L, intermediate to advanced |
| Advanced riding | Master Plus: 75 L Kevlar board, carbon mast (Racer 60 L) | ULTRA L3: 4'4", 49 L, advanced; RACE: 4'10", 58 L; both carbon |
| Travel board | None | AIR ICON 5'8" or AIR PRO 5'2" with 80 L, rigid inflatable |
| Handlebars | Flyer EVO Scooter Kit, sold separately | Flitescooter: 7'0", 237 L, removable handlebars, beginner |
Waydoo gives a top speed for every model, from 36 km/h (22.4 mph) on the Lite to 52 km/h (32 mph) on the Pro Plus and Master. Fliteboard quotes one for the RACE alone: up to 55 km/h (34 mph) with the Race impeller, the Flite Jet 2 and a full Explore. It puts takeoff, the moment the board lifts onto the foil, at around 20 km/h.
Each maker warns you off its sharper boards. Fliteboard says the PRO “isn't as easy to learn on, particularly for heavy riders”, and Waydoo labels the Master “Built for advanced riders” with a recommended rider weight up to about 100 kg (220 lbs). For a first board, look at the ICON or the Max Plus. If you want something to hold on to, the Flitescooter.

Watt hours and time on the water
Waydoo makes its Powerflight battery in two sizes, 1800 Wh and 2300 Wh, with lithium-ion cells in aluminum alloy cases. Fliteboard has three Flitecells between 806 Wh and 2.1 kWh, each rated IP67.
Swipe sideways to see all columns
| Battery | Capacity | Weight | Ride time, maker's figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Waydoo Powerflight (EVO Lite) | 1800 Wh | - | about 100 min |
| Waydoo Powerflight (Pro Plus, Master) | 2300 Wh | - | about 120 min |
| Fliteboard Flitecell Nano | 806 Wh | 6.2 kg | up to 45 min |
| Fliteboard Flitecell Sport | 1.6 kWh | 10.6 kg | up to 1.5 h |
| Fliteboard Flitecell Explore | 2.1 kWh | 14.5 kg | up to 2.5 h |
Treat them as ceilings. Waydoo tells owners to expect 45 to 90 minutes or more on a normal day, depending on rider weight, riding style, water and gear, and Fliteboard's FAQ puts the Sport at about 1 hour 10 minutes at 25 km/h.
The Explore does not fit the ULTRA L3, the AIR ICON, the AIR PRO or the AIR x Axopar. On the inflatables the Sport is as big as it gets.
A second battery is a big purchase with either brand. Waydoo lists the 1800 Wh Powerflight at $1,999 in the US and €2,298 in Europe, the 2300 Wh at $2,899 and €2,904. Fliteboard asks $2,310 or €2,420 for a Nano, $2,860 or €2,783 for a Sport and $3,960 or €3,993 for an Explore. Measured against the set, a spare 2300 Wh pack costs a bit over 40% of a Pro Plus set, while a spare Sport costs about a quarter of an ICON set. For charging, storage and battery life, see our eFoil battery guide.
Set weight and rider weight limits
You will carry the set to the water, so weight matters on land too. With a Flitecell Nano, Fliteboard puts the complete ICON at about 30 kg, the AIR ICON at 26 kg, 25 kg for the AIR PRO, 24 kg for the PRO and the RACE, and 18 kg for the ULTRA L3. The Flitescooter comes to about 38 kg with an Explore.
Waydoo publishes no weight for a complete set or a battery, only for single parts. The Pro Plus board weighs 23 lbs (about 10 kg), the 35-inch mast 9 lb.
Fliteboard's warranty covers riders up to 120 kg (265 lbs) on every setup except the ULTRA and the RACE, with the ULTRA at 100 kg (220 lbs). What it recommends for riding is stricter. On the ICON, the AIR ICON and the MN86 that means 120 kg with the Prop and 100 kg with the Jet; on the PRO, the AIR PRO and the MN60 it means 100 kg.
Waydoo's product pages give an ideal rider weight of up to about 90 kg (198 lbs) for the Lite, about 130 kg (286 lbs) for the Max Plus and Pro Plus and about 100 kg for the Master. The warranty draws the line lower. It excludes damage from operating above a maximum load of 100 kg, one figure for every model. If you weigh more than that and have your eye on a Max Plus, get the cover confirmed in writing before you pay.
Jet, propeller and the wing in the box
Fliteboard belongs to Brunswick Corporation and sits under Mercury Marine, and the Flite Jet 2 was developed with Mercury. It is a fully shielded impeller, and Fliteboard recommends it for most riders. Heavier riders do best with the Flite Prop, which drives through a reduction gearbox. Every set comes preconfigured with one or the other, and an ICON or PRO bundle costs the same whichever you pick.
Waydoo grades its propulsion units by power: Standard at 4000 W on the Lite, Performance at 6000 W on the Pro Plus and Max Plus, and Elite on the Master. An EVO Jet Drive is sold separately for $499 and a folding propeller for $299. Ask the dealer which models take them before you order.
The Fliteboard ICON and AIR ICON carry the Cruiser Jet 1500 C, the PRO and AIR PRO the MN 1300 C, the ULTRA L3 the FLUX wings and the Flitescooter the Cruiser 1800 C. For beginners, Fliteboard suggests the Cruiser 1100 or the Cruiser Jet 1500. Waydoo fits the Glider G1500 on the Lite, the Gliding C1500 on the Pro Plus and Max Plus and the Voyager C1100 on the Master.
Masts differ in material. Waydoo uses a 27-inch or 35-inch aluminum mast (69 or 89 cm) on the Lite, Pro Plus and Max Plus, and a 31-inch (79 cm) carbon mast on the Master.
Fliteboard's C eFoils fit every board from Series 2 on except the Flitescooter, and its C wings fit only C eFoils. If you buy a used Fliteboard from Series 2 or later, you can put a current C drive under it.
Remote, app and beginner aids
Waydoo puts the electronics to work for the learner. Flight Assist reads sensors and gyroscope inputs to steady the lift and smooth the throttle on the Max Plus, Pro Plus and Master; the Lite goes without. You can switch it off, though beginners usually leave it on. The Pro Plus and Max Plus also carry built-in GPS, and Waydoo's geofencing lets you set a safe riding zone.
The wireless remote handles throttle and ride modes, and the Waydoo App records your stats and updates the board. Once you know the routine, setup takes 10 to 15 minutes. A spare EVO Remote costs $299 in the US and €424 in Europe.
Fliteboard keeps the board itself free of electronics, with a lightbar for system and battery status. Everything else sits in the hand. The waterproof Bluetooth Flite Controller has rider modes for learners and for experts, a proportional trigger, battery warnings at 50% and 10%, and it cuts the motor when it goes under water. The Flite App logs speed, distance, foil time and battery health and manages Fly Zones. A replacement controller with its pouch costs €568.70.
Then there are handlebars. The Flitescooter's give an extra point of stability, and Fliteboard says that makes it very easy to learn in minutes. Waydoo's answer is a Flyer EVO Scooter Kit at $1,299. Fliteboard also says most people learn in under an hour, and it sends newcomers to a Fliteschool, where a lesson doubles as a test ride. Schools and rental operators are listed on our eFoil rental page.

Warranty, returns and service
Fliteboard has one rule for everything it sells. The warranty runs two years from the day the product ships, and Fliteboard Pty Ltd, Fliteboard Europe B.V and Fliteboard USA, LLC all give it on the same terms. Waydoo splits its cover by part and by region. In its own words, “Waydoo does not provide global warranty”.

Buy a Waydoo from a non-local or unauthorized dealer and you lose the official local warranty. Fliteboard's cover is for recreational use only and depends on routine maintenance as the User Manual describes it. Parts replaced after it runs out carry six months of their own.
Return rules depend on the store. Fliteboard gives EU buyers a 14-day cooling off period, with return shipping at their cost. Outside the EU its sales are final, apart from what local consumer law requires. Waydoo's US store takes returns, exchanges and refunds only for verified manufacturing defects or transit damage reported within 30 days. Waydoo Europe accepts unused items within 30 days on top of the EU 14-day withdrawal. Once a product has been in the water, it goes back only if it is defective.
This comparison sums up the warranty and sales terms each maker publishes and is not legal advice. The full terms of the store you buy from apply.
Dealers, shipping and duties in Europe, the US and beyond
Fliteboard has its headquarters in Byron Bay, Australia, with European headquarters in Amsterdam and North American ones in San Francisco. It sells from its own stores in US dollars, euros and Australian dollars, and its dealers handle lessons, servicing and in-store sales.
Waydoo's two official stores are tied to Hong Kong. eu.waydoo.com is run by HK Waydoo Co., Limited, and the US store on waydoo.com sells under Hong Kong law. Waydoo Europe in Amsterdam runs a third, the distributor store waydoo.tech. In Britain the dealer map shows The SUP Company in Southampton and the Volt Watersports demo center in Redruth, Cornwall. European dealers such as Gardawake Watersports on Lake Garda take demo bookings and warranty claims. In the US you pick a test ride spot on Waydoo's site and email for an appointment.
Fliteboard aims for a flat shipping rate per board. That is $400 plus tax to the mainland US, A$200 including GST in Australia, €476 to €488 including VAT to Germany, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, mainland Spain and mainland Italy, and €864 to the UK. Waydoo prices freight at checkout.
Duties split the two more sharply. Fliteboard covers import fees, duties and taxes in Australia, the United States and the EU, the UK included. Waydoo's eu.waydoo.com pays customs duties and taxes in Europe and ships from a German warehouse. waydoo.tech leaves duties outside the EU to the customer, and so does waydoo.com, which sends a Flyer EVO by truck freight from its US warehouse.
In Britain, GOV.UK sets the rule for goods over £135 sent from abroad. You pay VAT to the delivery company on the total value of the package, postage and duty included, and the Customs Duty rate depends on the type of goods and where they came from. So a Waydoo ordered from waydoo.tech arrives with that VAT and any duty still to pay, while a Fliteboard from the European store arrives with them settled. For riding spots and schools in Britain, see our eFoil UK page.
Australia is a one-brand market. Waydoo has no store or dealer there, and its warranty is serviced in the region of purchase. Fliteboard sells, ships and pays the duties at home. Places to ride around the country are on our eFoil Australia page.
