Riding from Split without a school in town
The nearest place to turn up, pay for an hour and ride beside an instructor is Bol, on the south coast of Brač, an hour out by catamaran. Split itself, for all its harbor traffic, has renters and no school: companies that bring a board to your accommodation, mostly for a week, and one hourly rental over in Trogir.
Where you sleep settles the plan. A Split hotel means the catamaran and Bol. A bed in Trogir or Kaštela means the Trogir hour or a delivery, and on Hvar the board comes over on the ferry. Prices below are the operators' own list prices, in euros, Croatia's currency since 2023.
Split once built an eFoil of its own, the Plurato Sailfin. Its maker has ended production, sale and support, so no rental list carries one.
From a Split hotel: the catamaran to Bol
Jadrolinija's catamaran line 9603 leaves the port of Split for Bol and carries on to Stari Grad and Jelsa on Hvar. Bol is an hour and five minutes out. From the waterfront in Bol town to Kite School Bol is about ten minutes on foot, and the school is the same distance from Zlatni Rat beach.
Add it up. About an hour on the water each way, the short walk and sixty minutes with the instructor come to roughly four hours door to door, plus the wait for the sailing back. A fast-line ticket belongs to one departure, so book the seat and the lesson slot together.
The car ferry is the slower option. Line 631 crosses to Supetar on the north coast of Brač in 50 minutes, its ticket is good for any departure on the date printed, and from Supetar it is about 35 km by road to Bol. From June to September the fast line 659 adds a daily boat from Split to Bol, Hvar and Vis.
Kite School Bol, prices and booking
Kite School Bol teaches and rents eFoils from its base on Put zlatnog rata. Helmets and vests come with every session, and the school insists you wear them.

| Session | One person | Two people |
|---|---|---|
| Lesson, 45 min | €110 | €180 |
| Lesson, 60 min | €130 | €220 |
| Rental, 30 min | €80 | €130 |
| Rental, 60 min | €110 | €180 |
Booking goes through WhatsApp. The Reserve now button on the school's eFoil page opens a message with three fields (date, hours and level), and in peak season that message goes out days ahead. The site and price list are in English; the language of the lesson itself is a question for that first message.
Zlatni Rat itself is usually left to the bathers, and a powered board stays outside buoyed swimming areas everywhere. Bol rides on the maestral in the channel between Brač and Hvar, a wind that builds through the day. Active Bol, which teaches wing foiling here, gives the mornings to beginners and the afternoons to experts. Kite School Bol runs its season from May to October.

Trogir, Kaštela and the airport side
Split Airport stands at Kaštel Štafilić, 6 km from Trogir and 20 km from Split. Stay in Trogir and the runway is close, the city further off.
Full Sails, a Trogir company whose sailing trips leave from ACI marina Trogir, rents eFoils at €189 for an hour, €339 for a day, €889 for three days and €1,700 for a week. The list names neither the board nor the hand-over spot, two things to settle in the booking. With the airport this near, an hour in Trogir fits into an arrival or departure day, something the Bol crossing rarely allows.
Along the Kaštela bay toward Split, Naviatic in Kaštel Gomilica rents by the week on the coast and the islands, with Fliteboard, Audi e-tron foil and Lift 4 boards, priced on a quote. Bonaca takes inquiries for the Split, Trogir and Kaštela areas for one week, two weeks or longer.
LULL, based in Pula, runs a seven-day eFoil and sailing trip on the 28 m motor sailer Green Ray from Trogir, with a long ride between Hvar and Bol, a support dinghy and two eFoil guides.

Hvar or Brač as your base
Hvar gets its boards by ferry. EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA and Blue Mind Marine both deliver to the island, and because the crossing is part of the delivery, EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA quotes every Hvar booking on its own and recommends weekly packages, which spread the transport over more riding days. A lesson from a beach with an instructor waiting does not exist on the island.
Hvar Away, a villa agency, keeps eFoiling for its own guests. A session lasts 90 minutes for up to three people, meets in Hvar Town or at the villa, is priced on request and comes with an instructor fluent in English. Riders must be competent swimmers, and children need to weigh more than 40 kg.
Brač is the easier island for a short stay, since Bol has the school, and between June and September the line 659 catamaran links Hvar with Bol for an hourly lesson.
A board delivered for the week needs somewhere dry and ventilated to charge, and a wet battery never goes on the charger.
Boards delivered to a villa, marina or yacht
EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA is run by Sport Group d.o.o. of Maribor, Slovenia, from a base in Zadar, and serves places within about 100 km by road. Split and Trogir fall outside its standard Zadar radius, so delivery there is arranged in advance, mainly for weekly rentals, villas, yachts, groups and larger bookings.
Its prices are set for the Zadar area. A first hour costs from €150 with an instructor, a safety briefing, helmet and vest; a day from €225; a Saturday and Sunday weekend from €450. The refundable deposit is €1,000. Shorter rentals outside Zadar add €0.60 per road kilometer for the trip out and back, and the seven and fourteen day packages come with free delivery to the destinations it serves.
You book online. The form asks for the package, date, group size, experience level and the exact address of your accommodation, marina or yacht, then shows an estimated delivery fee. Before confirming, the company checks the water access, depth, swimmers, boat traffic, the forecast and a safe place to charge and store the kit. A launch needs enough depth for the mast and wings, practical access and a safe distance from swimmers, divers, rocks and boat traffic.
One battery lasts 30 to 60 minutes. Day and weekend packages bring two batteries and a charger, so the second ride starts while the first battery is back on the charger.
Blue Mind Marine in Zagreb, an authorized Waydoo dealer, covers the whole of Croatia and delivers to your boat or villa, with pages for Split, Brač, Hvar and Makarska. The Waydoo Flyer One Plus costs from €790 a week with a €1,500 deposit, the Flyer Evo Pro Plus from €990 with a €2,000 deposit. These two renters are also the answer on the Makarska riviera, which has no fixed operator.
Renting out craft on a beach needs a concession or permit on the maritime domain (NN 83/2023, art. 12, para. 1, item 3; decree NN 16/2024, art. 5). We take that to be why schools sit at fixed camps and marinas while renters hand over at your villa, marina or yacht.
A half day in hours and euros
Around Split the hour on the board is the short part of the day, and your base decides the rest.

Two people sharing the 60 minute lesson in Bol pay €220 between them, and the catamaran fare is the same whether you ride for 45 or 60 minutes, which tips the choice toward the longer lesson. The eFoil rental guide compares the other ways onto a board.
English-speaking instructors, age and swimming
Two operators within a day's reach of Split name English as a lesson language. Hvar Away promises an instructor fluent in English. eFoil Riders, which teaches Fliteboard lessons at the Wind Rose water sports center in Zablaće near Šibenik, lists German, English and Croatian, takes riders from age 14 and puts no more than two people with one trainer. Your first session there opens with 15 minutes of theory and safety. Wind Rose charges €90 for 30 minutes, €110 for 45 and €130 for an hour.
EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA and Kite School Bol publish their terms and price lists in English and say nothing about the language the instructor will use on the beach.
No Croatian rule sets a minimum age for a personal craft, so the operators do it. EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA wants the main renter to be 18 and lets minors ride only with consent and under the direct supervision of a parent, guardian or instructor.
You must be able to swim with every operator that states a rule on it. Helmet and vest are compulsory at EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA and included at Kite School Bol, and the Zadar renter's terms forbid riding among swimmers, near divers, in shallow water, over rocks or inside restricted areas. The beginner board guide covers the boards that suit a first ride.
Split airport, ferries and catamarans
The airport lies at Cesta dr. Franje Tuđmana 1270 in Kaštel Štafilić, on the road between Split and Trogir. A shuttle bus runs to the main bus station in Split throughout the day. Public bus lines go to Split and to Trogir, with tickets in the Promet Split app or on board, and taxis wait at the terminal. Summer traffic gets heavy, above all toward Split, and the airport suggests setting off an hour and a half before you need to be there.
For Hvar, Jadrolinija's line 641 catamaran runs direct from the ferry port of Split to Hvar town, seat booked with the ticket. The line 635 car ferry takes 120 minutes to Stari Grad, all year. Line 9603 reaches Jelsa an hour and a half after Bol.
A delivered board makes the same crossing. EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA counts Hvar, Brač, Korčula, Vis, Rab and Lošinj among the islands that normally need a ferry or yacht arrangement, which is why its Hvar delivery is quoted case by case.
Maestral, bura, jugo and sea temperature
The wind that runs a settled summer day here is the maestral, a north-westerly that Split and Hvar see often. At breakfast it is a light breath off the sea; it builds through the afternoon and goes quiet again toward evening, so an eFoil hour belongs to the morning. EFOIL RENTAL CROATIA puts the easiest first sessions early or in a calmer part of the day, and in Bol the mornings go to beginners.
Bura belongs to the cold half of the year. DHMZ, the Croatian weather service, names the Klis pass above Split among the places known for strong bura, though a storm-force bura hits Split on fewer than five days a year on average. In Bol it blows offshore and in gusts.
Jugo is most likely on the coast from Split to the Neretva, mostly in spring and autumn. A summer spell usually lasts up to three days and brings high waves, sometimes with the swell arriving before the wind.
Long-term records at Split Marjan show a mean wind of about 3.5 m/s from June to September and about 5 m/s from November to March. The sea there averages about 17 °C in May, 21 °C in June and 23 °C in July and August. September stays above 21 °C, October sits around 19 to 20 °C and February drops below 12 °C. Hvar keeps the warmer sea into autumn.
DHMZ publishes a marine forecast for small craft in English, wind in knots by stretch of coast, and a page of current sea temperatures.
A strong maestral afternoon suits wing foiling better. Posejdon, a kitesurfing school on a sandy beach at camp Galeb in Omiš, 20 km from Split, teaches it in a shallow-water area. Five hours of instruction plus five hours of equipment rental cost €550, the lessons alone €320.
Croatian sea rules for eFoil riders
Croatia's rulebook NN 52/2025 of 21 March 2025 knows the electric sailboard, the electrically powered mattress, the underwater scooter and similar craft, and calls them in art. 45, point 6 an osobno plovilo, a personal craft. It never names a foil. On our reading an eFoil sits in that group, with four limits attached:
- Daylight and the 300 m band. Personal craft ride from sunrise to sunset within 300 m of the shore, outside a managed bathing area (art. 49, para. 4), and motorized ones keep at least 50 m from the shore (para. 6).
- Beyond 300 m only with a motorized escort provided by the organizer, renter or holder of the activity (para. 7). LULL's week at sea sails with a support dinghy.
- Bathing areas. Inside a managed one only pedal boats and paddle boards are allowed (para. 5). Art. 45, point 12 defines it as a developed beach closed off on the sea side by a buoy line, and para. 3, as replaced by NN 40/2026 (published 17 April 2026, in force on the eighth day after), keeps craft under 15 m at least 50 m from that line.
- Divers. At least 50 m from a diver's marker buoy (para. 12).
On speed, the rulebook holds all plovni objekti, its word for vessels, to special care and no more than 8 knots within 300 m of the shore, in narrow channels and on port and anchorage approaches (art. 50, para. 1), and the harbor master may set other limits locally (para. 3). Motor boats and jet skis may plane only beyond 300 m (para. 2), so the inshore band is the slow zone.
Split is a vessel traffic sector of its own (VHF 12 and 62, the port on channel 9), and scheduled ships may exceed the speed limits on port approaches while maneuvering (art. 50, paras. 7 and 8). Those approaches are the water to stay out of.
Off Hvar Town, art. 67 closes the Pakleni kanal (Rt Pelegrin to Pokonji dol) to ships of 500 GT or more and yachts of 1000 GT or more, except those heading for the anchorage or the port of Hvar. We read it as the approach to that port, so ride away from it.
A boat license is not among the requirements, as far as we can see. NN 52/2025 has no license rule for personal craft, and the voditelj brodice skipper certificate (categories A, B and C) applies to boats under the 2005 rulebook NN 27/2005, arts. 49 and 70, still in force through NN 13/2020, art. 48.

We read the texts as riders, not as lawyers, and a local harbor master's order can add limits of its own. The rest of the Croatian coast is in the Croatia guide, and the eFoil rules overview compares other countries.
