Seven operators, one of them a rental
The Czech Republic has no coast, so every session here starts on a reservoir, a lake or a pond. At Pasohlávky, on the Nové Mlýny reservoirs south of Brno, Surfspot rents boards with or without an instructor. Everyone else teaches or supervises. Two schools work the Hostivař reservoir in Prague and one Holoubkov west of it, Lipno has a short course, and two Waydoo shops in the north east run tests and try outs for people thinking of buying.

Pasohlávky and the Nové Mlýny reservoirs
Below the Pálava hills lie three basins, numbered from the top. Nové Mlýny I is the upper one, by Pasohlávky; II is the middle basin; III the lower. They are not equal in law. The middle basin is closed to combustion engines, while I and III allow them up to 10 kW at displacement speed. The split concerns fuel engines; the decree behind it does not mention electric craft.
ATC Merkur, a camp on the upper basin, is where the eFoils are. Its Surfcentrum rents and teaches paddleboard, wing, kite, eFoil and kayaks. Surfspot runs the eFoil side. It belongs to Mysticstore, a water sports shop with a showroom in Brno, and describes the spot as “only 35 minutes from Brno, with a view of Pálava”.

Of the operators in the table, only Surfspot will hand you the board without an instructor, and it prices both ways by the half hour. On your own, the longer block is the cheaper minute: two hours cost 2,000 Kč, not four times 600.

Mysticstore sells the instructor hour under its own name, “Kurz E-Foilu, 1 hodina”, at the same 1,600 Kč. In all of its foil courses a vest, a helmet and an instructor with a rescue boat are standard. The Surfspot eFoil page is published in Czech only; bookings go through info@mysticstore.cz or +420 736 522 555. Elsewhere a board handed over without a teacher is the exception, and eFoil rental explains why.

From lying to standing at Surfspot
Nobody asks for experience. The hour opens on the shore with a short theory part, the remote, the throttle and your stance, and then you go out lying on the board, move up to kneeling and finally stand. Most people are on their feet within the first hour, by Surfspot's account, and it calls the shallow water by the shore ideal for beginners.
Helmet and impact vest are compulsory, and both are in the price. So is a wetsuit when the water is colder. Basic swimming is a condition and the weight limit is 100 kg. There is no upper age limit.
Children ride from 6, with an instructor. Mysticstore's general foil courses usually start at 14, so say which one you are booking for a child.
Calm days suit the board. Surfspot sells the eFoil as flight over the water with no waves and no wind needed, and its wing courses work the other way around: no wind, new date.
Brno, its reservoir and the drive south
Take the road from Brno toward Mikulov. After about 35 km a turn-off signed ATC Merkur comes up just before the causeway across the lake. Buses running that way stop at the camp, roughly 40 km from the city. In Brno itself, the Mystic Showroom at Svatoplukova 1542/24 is the shop's pick-up point and postal address. The company behind the shop is FPIM Trade, s.r.o.
Surfspot also works on the Brno reservoir by Kozí horka, but what it teaches there is wing. For an eFoil, drive south.
The reservoir on the Svratka allows combustion engines up to 10 kW, at displacement speed only, and the river below the dam is closed to them as far as the Kamenný mlýn weir. Brno's own engine rules for part of the reservoir, municipal decree 11/2016, were annulled by the Constitutional Court on 11 April 2017 (Pl. ÚS 3/17), on a motion from the Interior Ministry. A city may not regulate this by decree.
Vranov, Dalešice and the jetsurf town
Vranov, on the Dyje in the Znojmo district, takes combustion engines up to 10 kW at displacement speed, and Vranovská pláž has a camp.
Dalešice, on the Jihlava, sits outside the engine decree altogether, while Mohelno, the lower reservoir, is closed to combustion engines. The April 2024 SPS leaflet for Dalešice marks areas for water skiing, jet skis and jetsurfs, and none for the eFoil.
The jetsurf, a motorized surfboard, is local: MSR Engines s. r. o. builds it in Střelice u Brna, in petrol models and one electric one.
Lipno in South Bohemia
Černá v Pošumaví sits at the widest part of Lipno, where the sailors, windsurfers and kiters are based. Kitesport teaches a 30 minute “Elektrofoil kurz” there, from Kemp Kitesport Jestřábí, on a Cabratec beginner set: a bigger, higher volume board and a shorter mast. The list price is 2,500 Kč (about €100).
Lipno I, the main lake on the Vltava in the Český Krumlov district, shares the Vranov and Brno reservoir rule, combustion engines up to 10 kW at displacement speed. Lipno II, the small reservoir below, is closed to them.
Tests and try outs in the north east
Two dealers here put you on a Waydoo before you buy one. efoils.cz, run by GMIO group s.r.o., calls itself the official Waydoo distributor for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and sells Waydoo and Aerofoils Audi boards with full service. Its try out at Olešná, Žermanice or Vrbice runs two to three hours for 5,000 Kč (about €200), with the board delivered and lent, a helmet, a vest and a briefing. Beginners are welcome, and the vest and helmet are a condition. You sign a rental contract before the start, and any damage is charged at the retail price of the replacement part. A wetsuit and shoes are recommended. Buy afterwards and the fee comes off the price.

KITEBOARDING.CZ, the Ostrava shop of WIND&BOARD s.r.o. at Gen. Sochora 1764/22, runs its tests on a Waydoo fleet at public test days it calls “testivaly”. Thirty minutes cost 1,500 Kč (about €60), an hour 2,200 Kč (about €90), and half a day of rental with training 4,990 Kč (about €200). Each comes as a full set of foil, foilboard, helmet and vest, always under the shop's supervision.
The renter pays for all damage. Test and rental fees are deducted if you then buy a set; for what a new set costs, see eFoil prices.

Prague, in brief
At the Hostivař reservoir in Praha 10 the eFoil comes with an instructor or not at all. Water Sports Club lists a 45 minute lesson on a Waydoo Flyer One at 1,399 Kč (about €55); Wake Hostivař lists 45 minutes at 1,500 Kč (about €60). Wake Point Holoubkov, on the Holoubkovský rybník by the D5, puts itself 30 minutes from Prague and 15 from Plzeň. It teaches on Cabratec boards at 1,500 Kč for the first hour, plus 299 Kč (about €12) an hour for the instructor. What a first lesson includes is set out in our eFoil lessons guide.
South of the city, the 2024 SPS maps for Slapy and Orlík mark eFoil areas from 1 May to 30 September, set again each season. Slapy, Orlík and Hostivař all sit in neither annex of the engine decree, vyhláška 46/2015 Sb. Our Prague eFoil guide covers Hostivař, Holoubkov, Slapy and Orlík in more detail, with the metro and the drive out.
Czech law and the 4 kW line
Nowhere does Czech law name the eFoil. The governing text is zákon č. 114/1995 Sb., the Inland Navigation Act, consolidated on 1 November 2026 with 331/2025 Sb. as its latest amendment. Under § 9 (4) a small craft is any craft with a hull under 20 m, which on our reading takes in a motorized board.
Everything then turns on the motor. § 14 (3) requires registration for a craft over 1,000 kg with its permitted load, with more than 12 m² of sail, or with its own engine of more than 4 kW. A small craft that meets one of these goes into the rejstřík malých plavidel (§ 15a (3)). Under § 26, only a license holder may drive a small craft that must be registered. The exception in letter c) covers craft that go no faster than 15 km/h on mainly hydrostatic lift, and a board flying on a hydrofoil, as we read it, is not one of them.
Put the two together and a board over 4 kW needs registering and its rider a license, while one of 4 kW or less needs neither. That is our conclusion; no SPS text or decision names the eFoil, and the act does not say whether peak or continuous power counts.

The 10 km/h zone by the bank
10 km/h. That is the limit within 25 m of the bank on a waterway, and within 50 m of the bank or of a marked bathing area on reservoirs and other wide waters, under § 7 of vyhláška 67/2015 Sb., the navigation rules in force since 1 May 2015. Signs or a regulation can set it otherwise, and the 50 m rule does not apply inside a vymezená vodní plocha, a designated area.
In those zones § 7 (5) lets a small motor craft without a speed measuring device sail only at displacement speed. As we understand it, a board with no speed display stays off the foil there, and one with a display keeps to 10 km/h.
Once a small motor craft leaves displacement mode, § 57 (1) makes it leave every other craft enough room that it need not change course or speed. Swimmers are owed at least 10 m from a small craft with its own drive (§ 103), and you pass them keeping, where possible, the swimmer between you and the nearest shore.
Which reservoirs ban engines, and which engines
Every engine ban here is aimed at combustion. § 7 (5) of the Water Act, 254/2001 Sb., bans combustion engine craft in first degree protection zones of water sources and on fish farming reservoirs, and leaves further waters to vyhláška 46/2015 Sb. Its § 1 bans craft with a combustion engine, or a hybrid with one, on the waters of annex 1. Its list of 61 reservoirs takes in Nové Mlýny II, Mohelno and Lipno II, and also Nechranice, Slezská Harta, Seč, Plumlov and Luhačovice. Annex 2, with its 10 kW cap at displacement speed, holds Vranov, Nové Mlýny I and III, the Brno reservoir and Lipno I, as well as Máchovo jezero, rybník Svět and Hracholusky.
Purely electric craft go unmentioned, a silence that, as we understand it, neither bans the eFoil nor permits it.
At the second or third flood activity level, § 3 of that decree bars navigation on surface waters altogether.
A board from across the border
A foreign craft needs an SPS operating permit on Czech waterways, says § 30 of 114/1995, with exceptions. A craft with a certificate from another EU or EEA state or from Switzerland does not count as foreign. Nor does the permit rule apply to a foreign small craft that a foreign person uses for recreation in the Czech Republic. The 4 kW line and the speed zones by the bank still apply.
Compulsory liability insurance under vyhláška 223/1995 Sb. covers a loď (ship) and a plovoucí stroj (floating machine). A small craft is not on that list.
For a particular board, ask the Státní plavební správa, the navigation authority, at Jankovcova 4, Praha 7. It has branches in Praha, Děčín and Přerov, and Přerov covers the Baťa canal, Vranov, Dalešice and Těrlicko. Country by country, the rules for a private board are set out on eFoil rules.
Wing courses for the breezy days
On a breezy day at Pálava the eFoil has company. Surfspot teaches wing foilingat ATC Merkur, at Kitebeach Pavlov and on the Brno reservoir by Kozí horka, with North, Mystic and Ozone gear included. A two hour “Seznámení s Wingem” costs 1,500 Kč (about €60), the four hour basic and advanced courses 2,400 Kč (about €100) each.
The F4 school at ATC Merkur runs its wing foil course on Nové Mlýny I from age 15. It goes from theory and dry practice to a big board, then a foil board, with a motorboat standing by and an eFoil to ease the foil stage. One day costs 2,490 Kč (about €100), two days 4,500 Kč (about €185), gear included. By F4's account, June and September bring more wind and fewer people than July and August.

HARAKIRI teaches wing at weekends from May to September, at Pálava in south Moravia, Nechranice in west Bohemia and Hlučín in north Moravia. Its one day course for advanced riders is 3,999 Kč (about €165). More on choosing a course is on wing foil lessons.
A Czech school on Lake Garda
YourWave, a school with a Czech website and an official representative of Lift Foils, teaches the eFoil at Porto Torchio beach in Manerba del Garda. Its 2026 list has a 90 minute lesson with the eFoil for one to three people at €160 and a 60 minute rental at €100. The lake, shore by shore, has its own page, eFoil on Lake Garda.
The neighbors have pages of their own: Austria, Germany, Poland and Hungary.
