Where you can eFoil from Prague
Every eFoil lesson around Prague happens on still water off the Vltava. The river through the city is on the national list of waterways of transport importance, which runs from České Budějovice down to the Labe and takes in the Slapy and Orlík reservoirs on the way.
Inside the city you go to the Hostivař reservoir in Praha 10. Half an hour west by car, a wake park at Holoubkov has its own school. Owners of a board drive up the Vltava to Slapy, where the State Navigation Administration (Státní plavební správa, SPS) marks out a stretch for eFoils, or further on to Orlík.
Foiling without a motor starts in Prague 6, behind the cable at Wake Park Džbán.

Learning at Hostivař inside the city limits
The bathing area of Hostivařská přehrada, on K Jezeru street, lists the eFoil among its sports, next to a wake cable, paddleboards and pedal boats. Two businesses teach here, and neither lets you out without an instructor.
Water Sports Club rides the Waydoo Flyer One (more on the brand at Waydoo eFoil). A 45 minute lesson costs 1,399 Kč (about €55), with the instructor and a 15 minute safety briefing included. Time on the water runs from 30 to 90 minutes, split into hour blocks for safety and battery changes.
Wake Hostivař, the cable park at the reservoir, also sells eFoil time only with an instructor. Its list starts with a 15 minute demo ride for 500 Kč (about €20), long enough to find out whether you like it before you pay for a full lesson. A 45 minute lesson is 1,500 Kč (about €60) and 90 minutes 2,500 Kč (about €100). A pass of ten 45 minute lessons can be handed on to someone else. Life vest and helmet come free.
Entry to the bathing area is charged on top of any lesson, under the area's own price list. Both schools keep their booking and price pages in Czech; the bathing area has an English version of its site at hostivarskaprehrada.cz/en.

Half an hour down the D5 to Holoubkov
Wake Point Holoubkov sits on Holoubkovský rybník, a pond in the village of Holoubkov right by the D5, the highway from Prague to Plzeň. The park puts it 30 minutes from Prague, and parking is free.
Lessons run on Cabratec boards with an instructor. The first hour costs 1,500 Kč (about €60) and includes the eFoil, a helmet, a vest and a wetsuit if you need one. The instructor costs 299 Kč (about €12) an hour on top. Booking is online.
According to the school, most customers lift off within the first 20 to 30 minutes. It takes everyone “from children to seniors” without naming a minimum age, and you need no surfing or wakeboarding behind you. Anyone in your group who prefers a rope has two wake cables to choose from.
Without a car, take line 170 of České dráhy, Praha to Plzeň, which stops in the village.

Foiling without a motor behind the Džbán cable
Wake Park Džbán sits in Vokovice, Prague 6, on the south bank of the Džbán bathing lake, with two Wakemaster cables.
The foil school foilkurzy.cz uses the park's two pole cable, “vodní vlek 2.0”, for a basic foiling course. It takes about 3 to 4 hours, with at most four students, and the trainers include an IWO instructor. The cable does the pulling, so you learn to balance a foil board without a motor under your feet. The Prague shop Snowboardel, which presents the courses on its blog, says the basic courses in and around Prague use either the wakepark or an eFoil, on beginner gear by Duotone. Dates and prices are on foilkurzy.cz.
Wing foil courses from foilkurzy.cz go on the calendar about 7 to 10 days ahead, once the forecast is in. On the river in town the navigation rules stand in the way: § 100 of vyhláška č. 67/2015 Sb. keeps boards with a sail off the Vltava from Vrané nad Vltavou down to Mělník. For the wing, see wingfoil lessons.
The park is about 300 m from the Nad Džbánem tram stop, or 15 minutes on foot from Nádraží Veleslavín on metro line A. Drivers park at the end of Nad Lávkou street.
Slapy and Orlík with your own board
Slapy is the large Vltava reservoir south of Prague. Its dam stands at river km 91.6. On the SPS leaflet of April 2024, area 8, between river km 105 and 92, is set aside for water skiing and eFoils, which puts it on the stretch of the reservoir just above the dam, roughly 13 km of water.
The area is shared by the clock. Water skiing has the morning, 9 to 12 h, with one craft at a time. eFoils get the afternoon, 14 to 18 h, with no more than three on the water together. Sundays are off; every other day from 1 May to 30 September is open.
Further upstream, Orlík has its own area at Podolsko, river km 185 to 179.5. Jet skis, jetsurfs and eFoils share it every day from 1 May to 30 September, 10 to 19 h, with at most three craft out and never two kinds at once.

| Reservoir and area | River km | Days | eFoil hours | Craft at once |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Slapy, area 8 above the dam | 105 to 92 | Daily except Sunday, 1 May to 30 September | 14 to 18 h | 3 eFoils |
| Orlík at Podolsko | 185 to 179.5 | Daily, 1 May to 30 September | 10 to 19 h | 3 craft, one kind at a time |
Both areas are for riders who bring their own board. The SPS sets the hours and craft numbers each season, so check the current leaflet on sps.gov.cz before you drive out.
Elsewhere the Slapy leaflet marks a buoyed fairway, displacement only sections, 10 km/h zones and bathing areas such as Hrdlička and Častoboř.
A motor on a board under Czech law
Czech law never mentions the eFoil by name, and neither does any SPS decision. We read the board as a small craft under the general rules of the Inland Navigation Act, zákon č. 114/1995 Sb., consolidated version of 1 November 2026 (latest amendment 331/2025 Sb.). The SPS is the navigation authority that applies it.
Registration and license
Under § 14 (3) of the act a craft must be registered if it weighs over 1,000 kg with its permitted load, has its own engine of more than 4 kW, or carries more than 12 m² of sail. Under § 26 only a license holder may drive a small craft that has to be registered. The exception in § 26 (c) covers craft that cannot go faster than 15 km/h and float mostly on their hull, which, we take it, leaves out a board flying on a hydrofoil.
That leaves the motor rating as the test. A board of 4 kW or less stays outside registration and the license, and one above falls inside both, on paper at least. Whether peak or continuous output counts, the act does not say.
The license (§ 26a (1)) needs medical fitness, an age of at least 16 and a theory exam. For a craft with an engine of up to 20 kW the practical exam falls away. Vyhláška č. 48/2023 Sb., § 10 (3), sets a computer test of 35 questions in 30 minutes, with at least 30 right to pass. Under 634/2004 Sb., item 37, the application costs 500 Kč (about €20), and an online application through the Portál dopravy cuts that fee by 20 %.
Speed near the shore and near swimmers
The navigation rules, vyhláška č. 67/2015 Sb. (in force since 1 May 2015), set the limits you meet most. Section 7 caps speed at 10 km/h within 25 m of the bank on a waterway, and within 50 m of the bank or of a marked bathing area on reservoirs and other wide waters, unless signs say otherwise. In those slow zones a small motor craft without a speed measuring device may only move in displacement mode (§ 7 (5)), so, taken literally, § 7 keeps a board without a speed readout off the foil there. Inside a designated area the 50 m band does not apply.
Once you fly, § 57 (1) puts the burden on you: a small motor craft outside displacement mode must leave every other craft enough room that it need not change course or speed. Under § 103 a swimmer is owed at least 10 m from a small craft with its own drive, and where you can, you pass with the swimmer between you and the nearest shore.
What the other rules do and do not say
Vyhláška 46/2015 Sb. bans or caps combustion engines on the waters listed in its annexes. It does not name a purely electric craft, so it is neither an eFoil ban nor an eFoil permission. Slapy, Orlík and the Hostivař reservoir are in neither annex.
Renting out small craft needs an SPS permit under § 30b. Compulsory liability cover under vyhláška č. 223/1995 Sb., § 8 (1), applies to ships and floating machines, and we find no compulsory third party cover for a board in it.
Readings of the published Czech texts, not legal advice; for a particular board or water, ask the SPS. Our eFoil rules page has the other countries.
Metro to Hostivař, car to Holoubkov, a board in the boot for Slapy
Hostivař fits into half a day without a car. Take the metro to Háje and walk about 1.6 km to the main gate. Buses also stop under a kilometer away, at Selská, Wagnerova and Jižní Město. By car, come along K Jezeru street from the Košík estate, because the branch from Háje is a dead end; the free public car park by the main beach is at GPS 50.041646, 14.529251.
Holoubkov wants a car and most of a day. Take the D5 west, the half hour the park promises, and park for free by the water; the wetsuit comes with the first hour if you need one. By train, line 170 towards Beroun and Plzeň stops in the village.
Slapy is a trip for owners with a board in the boot. The 2024 eFoil slot ran from 14 to 18 h, which leaves the morning free in Prague and puts the drive south around midday, with the city back in reach for the evening. PID buses serve Štěchovice and Slapy, and pid.cz has the connections.
- Book the lesson online first (Holoubkov) or through the school's Czech booking page (Hostivař).
- Pack swimwear, a towel and money for the Hostivař bathing area entry.
- With your own board, check the current SPS leaflet for Slapy or Orlík and plan your session inside the eFoil hours.
- On a reservoir, keep to 10 km/h within 50 m of the bank and of marked bathing areas whenever you are outside the designated area, and stay at least 10 m from swimmers.
A May to September season for your own board
With your own board, from 1 May to 30 September. The 2024 SPS leaflets give those dates for the eFoil areas on Slapy and Orlík and show no eFoil area on either reservoir outside them.
The schools keep their own calendars. Wake Hostivař runs its cable daily in a main season, weather permitting. Holoubkov includes a wetsuit with the first hour when you need one, which helps on a cool day early or late in the year. Its gift vouchers stay valid for 12 months, so one bought in winter covers next summer.
South Moravia lets a board out without an instructor
Surfspot runs eFoil rental and courses from ATC Merkur in Pasohlávky, on the Nové Mlýny reservoirs, 35 minutes from Brno, the shop says, and unlike the Prague schools it lets you take a board out alone.
Alone, 30 minutes cost 600 Kč (about €25), an hour 1,200 Kč (about €50) and two hours 2,000 Kč (about €80). With an instructor the same blocks are 900 Kč (about €35), 1,600 Kč (about €65) and 3,200 Kč (about €130). No experience is needed. You get a short theory on shore, then go from lying to kneeling to standing, and Surfspot says most people stand up within the first hour. Helmet, vest and wetsuit are included, and children ride from age 6 with an instructor.
Nové Mlýny I is in annex 2 of vyhláška 46/2015 Sb., which limits combustion engines there to 10 kW and displacement mode. Electric craft do not appear in the decree. Our eFoil rental page deals with hiring without a teacher, and eFoil lessons with the way a course is built.

The try outs before buying are far from Prague
efoils.cz, a Waydoo reseller, runs a 2 to 3 hour try out at Olešná, Žermanice or Vrbice for 5,000 Kč (about €200), deducted if you then buy. Those lakes are far from Prague, so this is a buyer's outing more than a day trip. KITEBOARDING.CZ in Ostrava lets you test Waydoo boards at its public testivals.
YourWave, which runs a Czech site and showed Lift5 and LiftX at the FOR BOAT Praha fair as Lift Foils' official representative, teaches at Porto Torchio beach in Manerba del Garda. Its 2026 list has a 90 minute lesson with the board for 1 to 3 people at €160 and an hour of rental at €100 (see eFoil on Lake Garda).
